Post Crit

Just had a crit with Orlando - he was keen on my ideas around censorship and unity more than the physical symbols associated with berlin techno. he wants me to explore the idea of censorship by finding 50 different ways to censor an image.

we talked about how the barbed wire / chains idea is very 'trendy' at the moment and is appearing on a lot of album artwork - although this type of imagery would be relevant to my micro genre  i still want to strive for originality and not just rip off the aesthetic of artists like david rudnick who are very influential at the moment, especially in the instagram design-sphere.

i discussed with orlando how i have been struggling to be self motivated during lockdown.

why do people most commonly censor images, and how do censorship methods vary based on what the situation is?
How far you can alter an image before it is unrecognisable? the censorship level depends on how much the censor wants the viewer to see - some images a blurred completely where are some only blur specific parts of an image to give an overall idea of what the image is.

it was difficult to work completely digitally for this task - for thinks such as blurring or pixelating an image, i would have used photoshop any way, but for techniques like ripping, scratching, burning or scribbling on an image I would have usually done this by hand so that it looked authentic.
